68% of Viewers Tweet to Keep the Shows They Love on Air [Infographic]

Social media is the sliced bread of the tech world. and recent IPO’s and acquisitions point to continued industry growth in many different areas, including entertainment and marketing. According to a recent eMarketer study, social network ad revenue is estimated to climb to $5.59 billion in 2014, up from $3.63 billion today. But how big of a chunk of this pie can entertainment take? A big chunk.

The infographic below from Milyoni, the leader in social entertainment, highlights fans’ increasing move towards a more social experience when consuming entertainment:

  • 42% of Americans watch TV while on a second-screen (laptops, smartphones or tablets)
  • 77% of social network users Tweet to tell friends what they’re watching in real time
  • 68% Tweet to keep the shows they like on air
  • Only 43%of marketers have been able to successfully leverage the power of social to increase sales – highlighting a huge opportunity
