Social Media Savvy San Francisco
One of the fantastic things about living in San Francisco is your proximity to great technology and like-minded thinkers in social media. Tonight’s San Francisco Blog Club Sponsored by Viglink, was no exception. Pizza and drinks were provided in typical San Francisco Bay Area style, making the 6:30 PM start time just right.
Hosted by the well-circulated social media personality, Murray Newlands, tonight’s MeetUp began with some light socializing between participants. I was able to meet someone from Viglink, to learn more about it, as well as become introduced to a collection of prospective, newish, and seasoned bloggers. It’s a good mix, and because of that, there’s a lot of sharing that can take place.
Murray does a good job with the format of the get-togethers, featuring an on-topic speaker at each. Tonight’s talk was from the CEO of a startup called “GushCloud.” This company started in Asia and is now breaking into the San Francisco Social Media scene. After all, this is a great place to launch a great, new idea. Particularly valuable about tonight’s talk was reiterating how powerful we can be as bloggers. Regular day-to-day people can establish themselves as influential brands, and the reach of blogging is one strong channel to do that.
The San Francisco Blog Club meetup was an absolute congregation of inspired, motivated, bloggers who are passionate about what they write about. And with the long-tail reach of the internet, they are finding people who are passionate about the same things.
